Just this month hundreds of new books have been catalogued, entered into the database and put up on the shelves.
giornaledibarganews.com has been on line since 1996 and since then more than 3500 books have been collected and donated by visitors to their offices.
These books are now being put back into the public domain by the creation of the permanent library.
Barga book exchange and library open to members from 10 am to 10pm 7 days a week
Everyone is welcome to join for an annual fee of 30 euros payable in advance and non refundable.
There are over 2,000 books, primarily in English, and the shelves are divided into sections – novels, non fiction, crime and thrillers, biography, classics, travel, romance, etc.
An online database shows the members which books are available
Members are given a key, solely for their own personal use, to come and go as they please.
On the first visit new members are requested to contribute a book to the library and are welcome to do so at any time ongoing, but it is not required on every visit.
Books taken are to be listed on the register, and books returned placed on the shelf marked incoming books.
It is the responsibility of every member to keep their key safe, never loan it and return it to the library if they no longer wish to use it.
If you would like to join please telephone or email Liz – 331 298 8042 – firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange a time to meet, sign up and receive your key or simply click on the button below to pay via PAYPAL for a yearly subscription of Euro30
