Astrid Palmgren exhibition of photographs at Casa Cordati
Astrid Palmgren was born in Sweden, studied in Norway and Denmark, and currently works as a professional artist in Scandinavia. Since 1998 she and her family have spent their vacations in the house they have in Barga.
Palmgren is a member of the Association of Norwegian Visual Artists, and is entitled to the rights granted to professional visual artists. During her five years of studies she concentrated on various fine arts subjects, from classic drawing and painting, to photography and works on textiles, wood and metals. She also studied art-therapy, focusing on the therapeutic use of symbolic painting.
In the exhibition Astrid Palmgren shows photo-art on canvas that are not manipulated technical. They are snap-shots from different places and with various themes taken the last ten years.
“I just use the camera as a brush and look up the motif in the same way as when I paint or draw. The most important to me is the composition and the use of colours in a picture. Then I give the eye that looks an opportunity to walk in and find its own meaning in the art work.” (Astrid Palmgren)
Ten years ago, in 2002, she had an exhibition in Casa Cordati called “A pair of magic” with acrylic paintings. (article here)
