Earth tremours felt right across the region

The ground shook for a few seconds this morning as an earth tremour made itself felt right across the region. . The earthquake registered a magnitude 4.9 . on the Richter Scale with the epicentre in the Po valley in Reggio Emilia. According to the Institute of Geophysics, the towns closest to the epicentre were Poviglio, Brescello and Castel di Sotto.
In this area there have so far been no reports of any damage but some schools were evacuated as a precaution.
Here in Barga the schools took advantage of the bright sunny conditions and evacuated their pupils as a testing exercise.
Evento molto forte localizzato nella Bassa Reggiana di M5.0 epicentro tra Brescello e Poviglio. Profondita 33 km Avverito in moltissime zone dell’italia setttrionale e centrale Lombardia, Veneto, Emilia , Toscana, Friuli.
Il sisma si è verificato poco dopo le nove di stamani ed è stato avvertito anche nella nostra provincia. A Lucca è stata decisa in via cautelativa l’evacuazione di alcune scuole.
Qui a Barga le scuole superiori hanno approfittato delle condizioni di sole ed evacuato i loro alunni come un esercizio di prova.
A proposito del terremoto , nelle ore successive è proseguito lo sciame sismico con due scosse, sempre nella pianura padana, di poco superiori a Magnitudo 2.

EVENTO SISMICO AVVERTITO ANCHE IN PROVINCIA DI LUCCA: NESSUN DANNO A EDIFICI E POPOLAZIONE
Il sisma avvenuto alle ore 9.06 di questa (mercoledì 25) mattina avvenuto in Emilia Romagna di magnitudo 4.9 è stato avvertito in maniera significativa in gran parte del territorio provinciale.
Da quanto pervenuto al Centro Situazioni Provinciale non risultano notizie di danno, molti plessi scolastici hanno attuato le procedure di evacuazione in via precauzionale e in alcuni casi le amministrazioni comunali hanno ritenuto opportuno chiudere i plessi scolastici per poter effettuare le verifiche strutturali richieste dai dirigenti scolastici e dai presidi.
On the site of the I.E.S.N. – the Rete Sismica Sperimentale Italiana there is the following message: after the two earthquakes recorded last night and this morning in Verona and Reggio Emilia, an unjustified alarmism has spread due to the fear of more strong earthquakes on the way.
Nothing could be more unfounded.
First let’s remind everyone that it is’ impossible to predict earthquakes and its exact cause.
Second, the seismic activity over the past few hours is completely normal and there is no direct correlation between the two events.
It should be emphasized as the Verona and Reggio have a well-known seismic history in which episodes of this kind are relatively frequent.
Already in October 1996, the area Brescello and Novellara had an earthquake of magnitude 4.9, equal to today’s events.
We invite everyone, therefore, to ignore the rumours spread by ignorant people, who have the sole purpose of spreading panic for no reason.
